SAD to launch Lok Lehar against social evils throughout the state

* Announcement to be made on Maghi Conference

Chandigarh January 6 – The Shiromani Akali Dal today decided to launch a Lok Lehar (public awareness campaign) against social evils throughout the state.

Details of the campaign would be announced by the Punjab Chief Minster and SAD patron-in-chief Sardar Parkash Singh Badal and party president Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal at the Maghi conference on January 14.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Core Committee of the party held at the residence of the Chief Minister here this evening.

The meeting also decided that a high level delegation of the party led by party president Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal will call on the Union Home Minister Mr Rajnath Singh on the issue of release of Sikh prisoners detained in various prisons. The delegation would also comprise, apart from Mr S S Badal, the party Secretary General Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and the SGPC president Jathedar Avtar Singh.

Giving details of the programme, Mr Harcharan Bains, General Secretary of the party said that the Lok Lehar will aim at mobilizing the people against evils that have come to afflict our society. “The SAD is committed to the establishment of a society based on the ideals laid before us by the great Gurus. Leaders and workers of the party would reach out to every nook and corner of every village and
city in the state.”

Apart from the Chief Minster and the party president, the meeting was attended by the SGPC Chief Jathdar Avtar Singh, Sardar Ranjit Singh Brahampura, Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Sardar Charanjeet Singh Atwal, Jathedar Tota Singh, Sardar Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema, Jathdar Ajit Singh Kohar, S Sikandar Singh Maluka, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, S Sucha Singh Langah, S Sewa Singh Sekhwan, S Balwant Singh Ramoowalia and Mr Harcharan Bains
