Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, Oct 27: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and Lok Sabha member Mr. Sunil Jakhar today dared SAD-BJP leaders to explain that why Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh didn’t turn up for helping victims of Amritsar rail mishap on the eve of Dussehra while he was present in the Amritsar along with entire state leadership of SAD-BJP alliance.
In response to a question raised by the journalists about this, the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Mr. Jakhar said that although he believes that the immediate presence of VIPs on the accident site causes an obstacle in the relief operations, but still he wants to ask from those who are blaming Sidhu family for not reaching at spot that why the union minister belongs to their own party had not visited the site or hospital when he was present in the same city while at the same time even prime minister was also tweeting about the incident. He clarified that Navjot Kaur Sidhu at the same time reached at hospital to treat injured as doctor could provide better aid at hospital only.
Parliament member also challenged the Prime Minister’s Office to make it clear that why his minister remained under ground even after happening of such a tragic accident in the city where he was visiting at the same period of time while the Minister of State for Railways had been sent from Delhi to Amritsar on the same night. He said that Dr. Jatinder Singh looks after the most important Personal Department in Prime Minister’s Office and he is called the Prime Minister’s ears and eye, even then his departure from city in the dark raises doubts in people’s mind.
Mr. Jakhar, said that on Dr. Jatinder Singh was present at Ranjit Avenue locality of Amritsar to participate in Dussehra along with Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia and another senior leaders of both SAD and BJP and he stayed in the city till 10 PM. “Then where the union minister remained hidden in the city for 3 hours along with his supporters who are now shouting at high pitch on the same issue,” he added. Commenting on those who are raising questions on the arrival of CM on the next morning Mr. Jakhar asked that why their own minister did not show up to help the victims on that night and why he left the city on same night when everybody in the country knew of this deadly accident and where was the local leadership of opposition parties during that 3 hours when Dr. Singh was in the city.
The Lok Sabha MP said that the Punjab government is conducting an inquiry into the incident but the way by which the Modi government had given a clean chit to the Railways without any investigation and now railway sent driver and other staff on long leave creating a doubt and it seems that railway wants to cover their own mistakes about this incident.
The state Congress President said that every help is being provided to the families by the Punjab government. Advising the SAD-BJP leaders to avoid politic on this tragic accident, he said that it will be better if they do something for immediate release of compensation of Rs 2 lack announced by union government for the victims.
