Leave if you want to, Mamata tells partymen

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has warned her partymen to leave the party if they wanted to. “Our doors are open for them,” she said at a public meeting yesterday at Kharagpur in West Midnapur.Her warning came after the reports of resignation of Haldia MP Subhendu Adhikary and some other party leaders joining the BJP were highlighted. Adhikary was aggrieved at Mamata’s decision of suddenly divesting him of the Youth Congress chief’s post and installing her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, a newcomer to politics, in his place. Siddhartha Nath Singh, BJP general secretary in charge of West Bengal, had recently claimed several TMC leaders had told him their wish to join the BJP. — TNS
