Chandigarh, August 14: Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia lashed out at the organizers of Referendum 2020 which was a conspiracy hatched in league with Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) to break the country and separate Punjab form Indian Union.
In statement issued here today, Majithia said such a nefarious demand of secession from India was not in consonance with the tenets of Sikhism where we pray for “ Sarbat Da Bhala” and to work for communal amity and harmony. Referendum is also an affront to the Indian democratic ethos where in every five year people elect a government for self rule which in nothing short of referendum.
“We owe allegiance to Indian constitution and out rightly reject the demand of referendum” he averred.
The Akali leader urged the Punjab government to probe the funding of the Referendum 2020 and its links as it is in the air that Congress and some other outfits too had overtly supported the ill conceived which not only proved a damp squib but also got a snub from patriotic Sikhs who opposed it vehemently.
“Overwhelming majority of participants was innocent gullible individuals misled by false propaganda of the ISI agents, therefore the real culprits were handful of people who are bent on vitiating the environment abroad and tarnish the image of community and also to divide it back home , he said adding that action be initiated against the masterminds of the move 2020 .
On Justice Ranjit Singh report , Majithia said that it was a “report of injustice” and a report cobbled in the Punjab Congress Bhawan at the directions of the ruling party. He said the real culprits committing sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib should be severely punished but the Congress is still resorting to politics even on this sensitiveisse. “We enhanced the sentence to ten years for the culprits but the Congress has reduced it to just two years”, said Majithia.
Hitting at the Punjab Congress leaders, Majithia said they never demanded arrest of Jagdish Tytlar or Sajjan Kumrar who indulged in Sikh genocide in 1984 or who dre not remove the picture of Indira Gandhi from Congress Bhawan who sent army to attack Harmandir
Referring to developments in AAP, Majithia said that finally count- down has begun. The AAP legislators who have now raised the banner of revolt making allegations and counter allegation have no locus standi as they opted for stoic silence to protect their limited interests when all “dirty things” were happening under their nose in the party.
