Moto e5 Plus: An unabashed entertainer

If hand phones had voices, how would they describe themselves? We like to think the Moto e5 plus would say, like Vidya Balan: “Mai entertainment hoon!”

Our smartphone usage patterns are rapidly evolving. Fueled by ultra low data charges and devices that are tailored for optimized multimedia experience, our relationship with the smartphone is dangerously intimate. Having said that, there has also been an unprecedented boom in the content that is optimized for smartphone consumption. From games to videos to interactive apps, the handphone is today’s preferred screen. Device manufacturers are taking a holistic view of entertainment on a smartphone. Motorola breaks this down into performance, battery life, sound and visuals — the four musts for a phone born to entertain!

The recently launched Moto e5 plus claims to provide 18 hours of video playback, 200 hours of music and 20 hours of web surfing on a 6-inch display with its jumbo 5000mAh battery. Powered by the Snapdragon 430 chipset, this 4G LTE — Android 8 phone comes with a 12MP + 5MP camera combo with a laser auto focus sensor and a lens that doubles as a QR code reader. And then are little enhancements like a triple SIM/memory card tray and UI tricks like ‘swipe-to-shrink’ and intelligent screen lighting that syncs to ambient motion — making this 3GB (RAM) + 32GB (storage) phone well worth the Rs 11,999 price tag.

If you are OK with slightly slimmer specs: a 5.7-inch display, a plastic back cover and a 2GB + 16GB configuration, you can consider the Moto e5, with a 4000mAh battery, a Snapdragon 425 processor and a 13MP + 5MP camera configuration. Interestingly the e5 has a camera that is one MP more than the e5 plus! It costs Rs 9,999.
