SAD deputes core committee members for 26th June protest at districts across state

Chandigarh : The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has deputed the core committee members to lead mass protests in districts across the state on 26th June to force the Congress government to cut down on its share of taxes on petrol and diesel to provide the much needed relief to the common man. The SAD cadre led by a core committee member will give a memorandum to the deputy commissioners in each district. The SAD president S. Sukhbir Singh Badal has assigned duties to all the core committee members in this regard.

Giving this information out from the party headquarters, the SAD’s Senior Vice president and spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that the Congress government was misleading the people on the issue of high prices of petrol and diesel by resorting to sham protests against the central government. The fact is that the highest tax on both petrol and diesel in the North region has been charged by Punjab. “We will submit mass memorandums at the district level to force the Congress government to cut its share of taxes on these fuel items besides seeking the congress government to pass a resolution for putting both Petrol and Diesel under GST and sending it to the central government immediately,” he added.

Giving details of the mass protests, the SAD leader said that the party leaders and workers will assemble at a particular place and proceed towards the offices of district commissioners in a peaceful manner to hand over their memorandums to the concerned authorities.
