VB NABS PUNGRAIN INSPECTOR RED HANDED FOR TAKING BRIBE

Chandigarh, May 28: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed Inspector PUNGRAIN Surinder Kumar Sharma red handed for accepting bribe of Rs. 80,000/-.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Surinder Kumar Sharma, Inspector Pungrain posted at purchase centre, Ibrahimwal, Kapurthala district was caught red handed on the complaint of Vinod Kumar of Ms. T.R. Agro Industries, Ibranhimwal, Kapurthala.

Giving details he said the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above named Inspector was demanding bribe of Rs. 1 Lakh to clear the pending transportation bills of their firm and the deal was struck at Rs. 80,000/-.

After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed with Rs. 80,000 and tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress.
