Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Tarn Taran, May 3: Punjab Markfed managing director Rahul Tiwari today visited mandis in the district to take stock of the wheat procurement operations.
He pulled up the officials and the commission agents for stocking wheat in the open without making adequate arrangements to save the grain from damage from vagaries of nature.
he said as against expected arrivals of about six lakh metric tonnes of wheat in the district, the mandis had so far received about 5.91 lakh metric tonnes and the government had so far released Rs 791 crore to the farmers.
He admitted tardy lifting as only about 40 per cent of the stock had been moved out of mandis.
he said about 85 per cent of the total arrival would be lifted within a week.
