Chandigarh, Republic of ghana President Mr John Dramani Mahama has invited Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal along with an official delegation, progressive farmers and 13 prominent businessmen of Punjab from the field of agriculture, food, breweries, textile, technical education, bicycle, business parks and agro based industry to visit the South African country.
Coordinator of ghana delegation Mr Harpreet Sandhu has handed over official letters to Deputy Chief Minister at Chandigarh and members of the delegation sent through special envoy Mr. Sanam Hari General Manager IPMC from ghana.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman said this visit would be a result oriented step to foster bilateral mutual cooperation in promoting businesses between ghana and Punjab. “The South African country is looking towards Punjab for sharing of its innovative knowledge and growth in the field of agriculture, small scale industry, power and education so that it can also usher an era of prosperity by developing agro based economy particularly food parks, agro and corporate farming in the country having tropical climate”, he said.
To materialise this bilateral understanding Advocate Harpreet Sandhu, an expert in international law and relations, had earlier arranged official meetings between the Republic of ghana and State of Punjab including leading industrialists. He added that during the deliberations with ghana delegation led by its Deputy Minister for Energy and Petroleum Benjamin Dagadu in the month of August, it was also proposed to Punjab for exchange of its agricultural and education know how with ghana and setting up an educational institute in the West African country.
He informed that ghana has offered to Punjab to help in exporting industrial and natural minerals besides setting up an oil refinery or gas processing plant in cooperation with Punjab.
