Vigilance nabs two police officials in bribery case

Chandigarh, April 17: State Vigilance Bureau nabbed two police officials red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said constable Amritpal Singh and home guard Sukhvir Singh posted at Police Station Phul, Bathinda were nabbed red handed on the complaint of Jagsir Singh of village Dhingar in Bathinda district. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused police officials were demanding Rs 12,000 to furnish report for his passport verification.

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and both the accused police officials were arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that in this case munshi Baldev Singh constable posted in this police station was also included as an accused. He added that a case under different sections of prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation was under progress.
