Chandigarh: Youth Congress leader and former NSUI president in Punjab Gobind Singh Khatra, who passed away earlier this week after a brief illness, was a promising all rounder.
Grand son of Pritam singh Khatra and brother-in-law of Punjab IAS officer Arshdeep Thind, Gobind headed SOPU in Panjab University in 2007.
He took over as president of the National Student Union of India in Punjab in 2009 to continue till 2013.
He jumped into the national affairs after taking over as national general secretary of NSUI in 2013. He performed this responsibility till 2018.
It was during his stint as the national general secretary that he was entrusted with the responsibility of the organisation in Haryana, Goa, Orissa, Uttarkhand, Andhra Pradesh and JNU.
He was appointed member of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee after his stint with the NSUI.
His hard work was noted by Punjab Congress chief and now Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh who put him incharge of his Jago Punjab campaign in 2016.
