Badal turning totally insensitive to people’s problems: Bajwa

partap singh bajwaChandigarh, The Punjab Congress President Mr Partap Singh Bajwa today slammed the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal and his government for having become totally insensitive towards the problems being faced by the people in the state and the latest case in point being that of Gurpreet Kaur, an unemployed woman setting herself ablaze in front of his residence.

He said she had earlier met the Chief Minister at whose suggestion she had done a computer course to get a job. However, all her efforts to meet him at his residence failed, forcing her to take this extreme step.

Mr Bajwa, who visited the eye hospital in Amritsar in the morning where the people who lost their eyesight in botched up operations at an eye camp at Ghuman village in Gurdaspur are being treated, came down heavily on Mr Badal for not extending them the extent of help they needed, including financial aid.

“The Badal government can splurge lakhs of rupees on the opening ceremony of the World Kabaddi Cup by inviting Bollywood artists but is not willing to come to the rescue of the needy. It is the concerns and needs of the people which should be this govt’s top priority”, he asserted.

He pointed out there was yet another shocking incident this week when a women was seen trying to meet Mr Badal at a Sangat Darshan programme at Attari as she wanted to narrate her woes to him. He just ignored her. Pictures had appeared in the newspapers showing that policemen were laughing at her pitiable plight.

He said this insensitivity percolated from the top (the ruling political leadership) down to the cutting edge level of the administration and it was because of this that the people were not getting justice at any level. The Sangat Darshan programmes were just sham and a mere eyewash.

Mr. Bajwa said what was ironic was the fact that here was the person who had become the Chief Minister for the record fifth term and rather than adopting a humble attitude, he had become arrogance personified and hence his growing insensitivity.

He said this was the case with his son, the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal also. In fact Mr. Badal’s blind love for his son (puttar-moh) has made him insensitive to the sufferings and travails of the people of Punjab. This modern day Dhritarashtra presides over what had proved to be the most corrupt, inefficient, visionless and unfeeling govt in the state ever. The sooner he is junked the better for the people of this long suffering state!

He demanded a pension of Rs 10000 per month and compensation of Rs 5 lakh for tge the victims of this apathy.

He was accompanied by S. Jasbir Singh Gill (Dimpa), Sh. Harminder Singh General Secretaries PPCC, Prof. Gurwinder Singh Mamanke Secretary PPCC, Sh. Balbir Singh Babi, Secretary PPCC and Advocate Rajiv Bhagat President District Congress Committee Amritsar Urban.
