Chandigarh, President v today held the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal morally responsible for the immolation bid an unemployed woman,Ms Gurpreet Kaur from Gurdaspur, in front of his official residence.
In a statement, Mr Bajwa reminded the Chief Minister that the Akali Dal and the BJP had promised to take effective steps to end unemployment in the state. The BJP, in its Lok Sabha poll manifesto and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his election speeches, had been referring to this serious problem and selling dreams to the unemployed.
“It is time for you to do some introspection as how many promises have been implemented by your alliance government. Your son and the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal has been talking of taking the state to a higher tangent of development. Both of you need to the explain to the people about the inexcusable failure of your government to govern. Your government is symbol of total corruption and non-governance”, he added.
The PPCC chief said how painful it would have been for a young woman to take such an extreme step and she might have tried her level best to get a job. He said the government had promised unemployment allowance but later the excuse extended was that it would be skill improvement allowance. The unemployed had been left in the lurch.
He said the problem of unemployment was multiplying every day and the number of unemployed in the state might be in lakhs. However, the apathy of the Badal government to such grave situation was just criminal. He called upon Badal to own moral responsibility for the immolation bid in front of his official residence. While the state is passing through a severe crisis on all fronts, Badal is squandering the tax payers money in Sangat Darshans in his typical feudal style. This is a classic case of “Nero fiddled while Rome Burned”.
Yesterday, a woman wailed before the CM during his Sangat Darshan, but he did not even have time to give a serious hearing to the grievances of the woman. Several girls had to bear the brunt of brutal insensitivity of the Punjab Government in the past also.
