Chandigarh January 28: A total of 8 candidates were in fray after scrutiny of nomination papers today on January 28 for the Khadur Sahib Assembly constituency bypoll in Punjab. Polling would be held to this Assembly constituency onFebruary 13.
According to an official spokesperson of the Chief Electoral Officer Punjab the nomination papers of S. Baldeep Singh Independent candidate was rejected after scrutiny as he was not registered as a voter in Punjab. The nomination papers of Mrs.Ravinder Kaur wife of SAD candidate Mr. Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, as a covering candidate were cancelled after his nomination papers were found valid by the Returning Officer.
Adding further, he said that now Mr. Ravinder Singh Brahmpura (SAD), Puran Singh BSP (Ambedkar), Sukhdev Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Ajit Singh Saini, Sumail Singh, Harjit Singh and Anantjeet Singh (all Independents) would contest the Khadur Sahib Assemblybypoll.
The candidates can withdraw their names till January 30, 2016.
