Chandigarh/Jamshedpur, The All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) on Tuesday said it had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in this part of the country.
The PIL, filed by Satnam Singh Gambhir, president of the AISSF’s Bihar-Jharkhand unit, and Balwinder Kaur, a riot victim, was taken cognisance of by the Jharkhand high court on Monday, Gambhir and Kaur said at a press meet here.
The bench of Jharkhand high court chief justice Virendra Singh and justice DN Patel took cognisance of the PIL, they said.
The AISSF leaders regretted that rehabilitation and compensation were yet to reach the riot victims.
