Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh June 3: Over 100 villages of Punjab are all set to become rural model village with Punjab Government selecting them for total infrastructure upgradation under Prime Minister Adarsh Gram Yojna.
Disclosing this here Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka said that 50 villages of the district Hoshiarpur and 50 villages of district Sri Mukatsar Sahib have been selected under the Prime Minister Adarsh Gram Yojna Scheme. A grant of Rs. 20 lac will be released in the year 2015-16 to each village where more than 50% population belongs to Scheduled Castes. Mr. Maluka said that for the purpose, a grant of Rs. 35 crore have already been released of Rs. 17.50 crore as account of central government and an equal amount of Rs. 17.50 crore by the state government. The Deputy Commissioners of the concerned have been directed to ensure proper utilization of the funds as per the development and welfare scheme and to report the progress from time to time.
