Xiaomi

After the launch of its highly successful Mi 5 smartphone, Xiaomi is now looking forward to launch the successor which will be christened as the Mi 6 with the details which already has been leaked online, mainly regarding its chipset and design.

Kevin Wang, an analyst from China has stated that Xiaomi will be launching a special edition Xiaomi Mi 6, which will be made from ceramic, similar to Mi MIX. Since the production output for ceramic is quite low, Xiaomi will be making lesser of those models since premium models sell in fewer units.

The other Xiaomi Mi 6 models will however be made out of metal and glass, similar to Mi 5 smartphones. The new device is expected to launch before the end of March or April and ship in a few variants.

There have been numerous reports concerning the Xiaomi Mi 6 but specifics are still sketchy. Some say that all variants will run on Snapdragon 835 64-bit processor, while there are reports that a Snapdragon 821 may be offered, owing to low production yields for the latest Qualcomm chipset.

Nonetheless, the Mi 6 is slated to come with a 5.2-inch display (1920 x 1080) display, while the premium ceramic model might have a QHD (2560 x 1440) screen. RAM capacity is touted to vary between 4GB and 6GB, while multiple storage variants will be offered.

One point worth mentioning is that the Snapdragon 835 chipset won’t be under clocked, which means one can expect a power packed performance. The Mi 6 will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, with possibly MIUI 8 on top.

Details about the phone’s camera surface recently, revealing that Mi 6 might be equipped with Sony’s advanced IMX400 sensor, while the higher-end model might have a dual-camera setup on the back. The camera sensor equips the recently announced Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs. Take these rumored specs with a drain of salt, but with such powerful components, Xiaomi must make a compromise to keep the phone’s price down.
