VIGILANCE NABS SUPERINTENDENT OF PANCHAYAT SAMITI FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE

Chandigarh, State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption today nabbed a superintendent of Panchayat Samiti red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 41000/-.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Balwan Gagat, Superintendent posted at Panchayat Samiti, Andana at Munak, district Sangrur was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Samandeep Singh, resident of Lehra district Sangrur. The Complainant has approached the VB that the accused Superintendent was demanding Rs. 94000 for issuing permanent job letters to him and peon Jaiveer as both were working on contractual posts in the Panchayat Samiti. He further alleged that had already paid Rs. 53000 as a first installment for the above said work.

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused Superintendent was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.41,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigations was under progress.
