Ludhiana, June 7:
Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal has been nominated as member of the special committee headed by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi for celebrating Dr B R Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary. The centre government has decided to celebrate Dr B R Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary on large scale and this particular committee has been formed to plan the function.
After Dr Atwal’s appointment, Punjab SC Commission chairman Mr Rajesh Bagha specially visited his house, here, and congratulated him. Mr Bagha said that Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal’s appointment is a matter of pride for the entire state because this 19-member committee is headed by the Prime Minister himself and comprises of 11 union ministers and other prominent personalities.
Dr Atwal informed that the centre government has decided to celebrate Dr B R Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on national level on April 14, 2016. He informed that special functions would be organised in all states and the committee has been formed to chalk out everything in detail.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included DPRO Mr Prabhdeep Singh Nathowal, councillor Mr Jaswinder Singh Bhola, besides others.
