Tumhari Sulu: Vidya Balan has a rocking time at the Box Office on Sunday

Mumbai: Vidya Balan starrer family drama – Tumhari Sulu – with oodles of hilarious moments, has kept the Box Office cash registers ringing. The Suresh Triveni film has helped Vidya claim her spot at the Box Office after many years.

The comedy flick that is a perfect watch for the family audience has minted over Rs 12 crores in India over the weekend.

The business collections on Sunday witnessed an impressive growth. Trade analyst and movie critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the latest figures.

He tweeted: “#TumhariSulu had a SUPER-STRONG weekend… Showed SUPER trending… Fri 2.87 cr, Sat 4.61 cr, Sun 5.39 cr. Total: ₹ 12.87 cr. India biz (sic).”

In the comedy-drama Balan plays a radio jockey again after Rajkumar Hirani’s Lage Raho Munna Bhai starring Sanjay Dutt.

The film stars theatre actor Manav Kaul as Sulochana’s (Vidya) husband. Also featuring Neha Dhupia, Malishka Mendonsa, Tumhara Sulu has helped Vidya claim her spot at the Box Office.

Vidya hasn’t had a great time at the Box Office for quite some time now. Her previous releases – Begum Jaan, Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh, Te3n, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Bobby Jasoos, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Ghanchakkar couldn’t create an impression in terms of business.

Vidya is one of those actresses who haven’t worked with any of the Khans – Shah Rukh, Aamir or Salman – yet. She shoulders the entire weight of the film single-handedly and doesn’t depend on an A-List actor to share the responsibility.

And hence Tumhari Sulu, produced by T-Series and Atul Kasbekar’s Ellipsis Entertainment will play a pivotal role in resurrecting her innings at the Box Office.
