Chandigarh, Dec.5. The Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh has been assuring the turn coats from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and other parties undermining the Central Parliamentary Board of the party which is slated to meet later this week to finalize the party nominees for ensuing assembly elections in the state.

Stating this here today, Punjab deputy chief minister and president SAD Sukhbir Badal said that ironically a national party Congress that brags of winning two third majority and of forming the next government is hopelessly dependent on the leftovers and rejects of other parties. The Congress high command would be pleasantly surprised and totally contented if Amarinder could manage even one third of 117 assembly constituencies.

“This reliance on the rejects of SAD-BJP clearly reflects on the Congress perception that the leftovers or rejects of the other parties are better placed than their Congress stalwarts and hopes they would bring laurels to the Congress”, said Sukhbir adding that if the Congress was confident, it would not have lapped the leftovers of other parties.

Sukhbir suggested to the Congress should defer announcement of its candidates by some days till the SAD and BJP selects its candidates as they may grab some more from the dustbin of these parties.

Already, Congress has decided to field Inderbir Bularia and Navjot Kaur, Pargat Singh, Deepinder Dhillion and Swaran Singh Phillaur have already been assured Congress nomination thus compromising on the authority of all powerful Congress high command.

Sukhbir suggested to the Congress should defer announcement of its candidates by some days till the SAD and BJP selects its candidates as they may grab some more from the dustbin of these parties.

The president of the SAD said that party had allocated seats after evaluating the performance of all the aspirants from each constituency and their poll prospects. If the Congress is happy in accommodating them, be it that. Amarinder would certainly ponder soon that those who proved deadwood for the parent party SAD, how could these be an asset to Congress, said Sukhbir. Also, how loyal these pick- ups would be to the Congress while these deserted the parent party which had nourished them for decades.

Sukhbir said that the Congress is already showing signs of desperation after the SAD-BJP could find a solution to the contentious SYL by its administrative efficiency in returning the land acquired three and half decade ago by Congress government. This has reinforced Peoples’ faith that the SAD-BJP government would resolve all outstanding Punjab issues with efficiency and tact to the satisfaction all stake holders.
