Sukhbir Badal blasts Rahul Gandhi for lying on his family and Cong role in 1984 Sikh massacre

Chandigarh September 12 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal today blasted Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for “lying on the international fora about his party’s role in the 1984 Sikh massacre and trying to deceive the world community with lofty statements despite knowing his family’s guilt in engineering the Delhi massacres and shielding the culprits”.

“Rahul Gandhi represents a family that had under Indira Gandhi rolled tanks into the holiest of the holy shrines Sri Harmandar Sahib. His father Rajiv Gandhi had justified the massacre of thousands of innocent by infamously declaring “When a big tree falls, the earth trembles.” Rahul has been to Punjab several times but had never thought it necessary to apologise to the Sikh community for this horrendous massacre or for the sacrilegious attack on Harmandar Sahib”.

Mr Badal was referring to what he called Mr Rahul Gandhi’s blasphemous speech at the University of Berkley in the United States of America. “He went thousands of miles away from India to tell these brazen lies and shed crocodile tears about the victims of the most inhuman massacre in independent India’s history while the fact is that the Gandhi family not only shielded the main culprits like Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar but even ensured z-security cover to them. Even when a single murder is committed, the guilty are punished but the Gandhi family never allowed FIRs to be registered against those guilty of massacre of thousands of innocent Sikhs in 1984. The guilty were not charge sheeted and the Gandhi family, at the helm of the UPA government, twice influenced the CBI to give a clean chit to the perpetrators of these ghastly crimes. They were even rewarded with plum ministerial berths. Why have Rahul and his family shielding the perpetrators of these crimes including Kamal Nath, Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar from the Congress? Will he throw them out of the party for their inhuman acts even now when he claims he is hurt by the massacre? “.

The Akali supremo said truth of the matter was that Rahul Gandhi and his family were anti-Sikh and had double standards on all issues concerning the Sikhs and Punjab. In fact, Rahul has been defaming the youth of Punjab by calling 70% of them as drug addicts. This lie has now been exposed by the country’s most prestigious and reliable institutions like the AIIMS and the PGIMER in their surveys which state there is less than one per cent drug incidence in Punjab society. They first called Punjabis anti-national. When that didn’t work, they painted us as terrorists. Even that failed. Hence this latest vilification campaign on which also they have been exposed by AIIMS and PGIMER.” he added.
