Chandigarh, Jan.20.

Comedian turned politician Navjot Sidhu remained engrossed bargaining with political parties and now is offering unbelievable explanations for his mysterious conduct for all these months after he resigned from Rajya Sabha and BJP, which had launched him on political scene more than a decade ago.

In a statement issued here today, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that Sidhu saying that he did not join Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as that party too wanted to keep him out of Punjab. This is diametrically opposed to what AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal had claimed..

Kejriwal had made an honest confession that the party had offered the slot of deputy chief ministerial post to Sidhu but he was eyeing for a higher slot, obviously of chief minister and hence the deal fell down.

Since Sidhu had not contested Kejriwal’s statement, it goes without saying that for a change, Kejriwal was speaking the truth. And if it were so, how could Sidhu say that he was being kept out of Punjab by AAP too. Is office of deputy CM of Punjab is outside Punjab, asked Harsimrat adding that either Sidhu does not understand politics or he thinks that credulous people would believe his lies.

Sidhu’s claim that Punjabis “hate” Badals is beyond comprehension. Does Sidhu want to suggest that Badal Sr. was elected for the 5th time chief minister of Punjab because people hate Badal. And people threw out his newly adopted father “ Amarinder Singh” after five years in 2007 and humbled him for the second time in 2012 because of their profound love for him, she averred while having a dig at Sidhu’s recent statement Amarinder Singh was like father to him.

Harsimarat said that Sidhu had been her colleague in the last Lok Sabha but he remained conspicuous by his absence. His record of spending of his Local Area Development fund was abysmal, lowest of all the MPs of the state. Moreover, his performance in parliament had been dismal as he rarely articulated aspirations of Punjabis in parliament. His oratorical skills are limited to streets or for laughter shows, where he reads well rehearsed dialogues but in parliament he rarely opened his mouth.

As per official records, Sidhu attendance in parliament was just 28 percent, never moved a private member bill and participated only thrice and put only 99 questions during his five year tenure from 2009 -14. This reflects on his apathy towards Punjab and to the cause of Punjabi but now he claims that he want to do something for Punjab.
