SAD committed to safeguarding river waters of Punjab at any cost: Sukhbir Badal

Jalandhar, December 5: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal has re-iterated that SAD has always made sacrifices for protecting the interests of Punjab and now too the party is committed to safeguard the river waters of the state at any cost.

Addressing a vast gathering of MLAs, Halqa Incharges, District Presidents, Block Presidents, SGPC members and workers of doaba region in connection with the December 8 ‘Paani Bachao-Punjab Bachao’ rally to be held in Moga, S. Badal said that the river waters are the lifeline of state’s economic structure and to protect these is the prime duty of every Punjabi.

He further said that the sordid saga of snatching river waters of Punjab was begun by Indira Gandhi. Divulging more, he said that inspite of being a riparian state, the Union governments headed by Congress looted Punjab’s waters and the then congress leadership of Punjab celebrated this plunder. He also said that not only congress but AAP too has adopted double standards on the issue which has exposed the anti-Punjab face of its leadership.

Exhorting all the Punjabis to take part in this rally to save river waters of Punjab, S. Badal said that every worker of SAD is geared up to make the biggest of sacrifice to save interests of the state on this issue of great significance. He also disclosed that 500 cars along with the buses from every assembly constituency would depart for the rally. He also exuded supreme confidence that the victory of SAD-BJP is certain in the coming assembly elections as the alliance government has change the length and breadth of the state with its record developmental projects. He said that the congress & AAP have started showing signs of disintegration even before the polls. Other prominent speakers on the occasion were cabinet minister Ajit Singh Kohar, ex-minister and President Istri Akali Dal Bibi Jagir Kaur and SAD candidate from Jalandhar Cantt. On the occasion, Ex-Minister Dr. Upinderjit Kaur, MLAs Bibi Mohinder Kaur Josh, Pawan Kumar Tinu, Gurpartap Singh Wadala and Chaudhary Nand Lal, President Doaba Zone of Youth Akali Dal Sarbjot Singh Sabi, SAD candidate Baldev Khehra, Seth Satpal Mal, Arvinder Singh Rasulpur, Youth Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Dhillon and others were also present.
