Repeated Police transfers demoralizing police- Phoolka

Phoolka (1)

Chandigarh, 26 April 2017

Taking cognizance of the repeated and widespread transfers and postings of IPS and PPS officers in Punjab, Phoolka asked today that this is frustrating and demoralizing for the the police forces in an uncertain environment.

Phoolka said that it was one of the poll promises of the Congress Manifesto that police will be given free hand in dealing with various law and order problems and their tenure will be ensured and fixed. Also, no political pressure will be made in making such transfers and postings and services will be rendered free in dealing with various issues.

Surprisingly, police officers have been transferred because two Congress MLAs had to wait to see Ludhiana Commissioner of Police, Phoolka said. Why Congreve government deviated from poll promises made with Public during elections, asks Phoolka.

It is quite surprising that some police officers have been transferred thrice ever since Amrinder Singh Government assumed office. Raj Jit Singh, a PPS officer has been transferred thrice since March 17. It is quite denigrating for the police and frustrating for the police to deliver for public welfare under such political pressure.

Phoolka asked from Congress government what is the time frame for fixed tenure of a police officer on a single posting, which has been promised in election manifesto.
