PUNJAB VIDHAN SABHA SPEAKER SUMMONS GM, MILK PLANT, GURDASPUR FOR BREACH OF SPECIAL PRIVILEGE

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 26:

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr. Kanwar Pal Singh Rana has summoned General Manager, Milk Plant, Gurdaspur for the breach of special privilege of an elected legislator. Acting on the complaint filed by Mr. Brindermeet Singh Pahra, MLA, Gurdaspur, Mr. Rana instructed General Manager Ashish Kumar Agarwal to appear in person before him on 2nd May, 2017.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of Punjab Vidhan Sabha said that in his complaint, Mr. Pahra alleged that “as an elected representative of the people of Gurdaspur, I asked the General Manager (Ashish Kumar Agarwal) that I want to know about the functioning of the milk plant. In the course of interaction, instead of explaining about the working and losses to the unit, the General Manager has questioned my authority asking “who are you” by adding that he was not answerable to me.”

The spokesperson further said that before handing this case over to Special Privilege Committee of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the Speaker is desirous to listen to the views of the General Manager in this regard thus the General Manager has been instructed to be present on 2nd May, 2017.
