Punjab right to service commission to hold lok adalats in 4 districts

Chandigarh,Punjab Right to service commission has planned to hold Lok Adalats at Bathinda, Ludhiana, Muktsar and Jalandhar in the state

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Commission said that the Lok Adalat at Ludhiana would be held on January 30 where as the Lok Adalat in Bathinda has been scheduled for February 5. He also said that earlier such Lok Adalat was held at Mansa in November 2014 where 337 cases pertaining to “demarcation of land” were resolved. Again in December 2014, a Lok Adalat under the Chairmanship of Chief Commissioner was held at Nawanshehar district headquarters where 506 cases pertaining to the notified service “Certified copies of Birth/Death CERTIFICATES” were resolved.

He further said that as many as 1, 58, 30,816 applicants in Punjab have availed the notified services during the period April to December,2014 which includes 20,64,828 applicants during the Month of December, 2014 only under Punjab Right to Service Commission.

He also said that on the basis of MIS reports received from various districts, the Commission took suo-moto notice in groups of cases where service was delayed beyond time lines without sufficient cause. With the intervention of the Commission, 8944 such cases have been disposed of up to December, 2014. Apart from this, suo-moto action was initiated in 174 individual cases up to December, 2014.

He also said that 40 officers/officials have been penalized who have failed to deliver the notified services without sufficient cause. Two applicants have also been compensated out of this penalty amount, he added.
