Punjab Govt to establish research centre for upgradation of syllabus of technical education & Industrial training: Channi

The Punjab Government would establish a research centre for the upgradation of syllabus of technical education and industrial training. The Technical Education Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi said this while addressing a press conference after the inaugural function of ‘Mega Job Fair’ today at Chandigarh University, Gharuan.
The Minister said that the experts from the Industry, and technical education fields and Industrialists would be included in the research panel to prepare syllabus of the ITI’s and technical education as per needs of the present and future Industry. He further said that after every three years the syllabus would be reviewed and upgraded in consultation with the experts. ‘100 crore would be spent on the strengthening of infrastructure of government ITI’s & Polytechnic colleges this year’, added Channi.
Earlier addressing the inaugural session of the ‘Mega Job Fair’, Mr. Channi said that this unique initiative of the Punjab Government under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is aimed at not only providing jobs to the youth of the state but build confidence between all the stakeholders. He said that the Punjab Government in the shape of ‘Mega Job Fests’ has provided a single platform to all stakeholders which includes Industrialists, Educational Institutes and students. He said that in the first phase of these Mega Job Fairs about 4 lac students have registered online on the government portal and these Job Fairs are being held at 21 different venues across the state in which about 900 companies are participating to recruit the students as per their requirements.
Mr. Channi said that after the completion of the first phase of this recruitment drive, the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would hand over appointment letters to 50000 youth on September 5 at Mohali.
The Minister also said that the Punjab Government is also working on the model that the students get recruited in the last semester and the industry should train them on apprenticeship and award stipend. He further said that the Punjab Government would also get into an agreement with the Industrial sector to start foundation course for the recruited students to make them trained as per the requirements of the emerging industrial scenario.
Mr. Channi also said that another step taken by the Punjab government to provide quality technical education is that all the exams of the ITI’s and technical education institutes would be held under the CCTV surveillance.
Earlier, Mr. Satnam Singh Sandhu Chnacellor of the Chandigarh University applauded the efforts of the Punjab Government for providing a single platform to Industrialists and students of the state. He also said that this will go a long way in the confidence building between all the stake holders.
Amongst others prominent, present on the occasion included Ms. Bhawna Garg Secretary Technical Education, Mr. Praveen Thind Director Technical Education and Industrial Training, Mr. VK Khurana Industrialist, Mr. Sanjay Sharma Industrialist, RS Bawa Vice Chancellor Chandigarh University and Mr. Charandev Singh Maan Additional Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar.
