Punjab Government to organize job fairs on regular basis to fulfill promise of ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’: Channi

Chandigarh, August 16: The Punjab Government has decided to organize job fairs on regular basis to fulfill the promise of ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’. In the first phase of this campaign, job fairs would be organized in government and private institutions throughout the state from August 21 to 31. The Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh would hand over appointment letters to 50,000 youth on 5th September at MEGA Job fair in Mohali. The Technical Education Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi held a meeting in this regard here today with the representatives of the private and government institutes.

After the meeting Mr. Channi said that he has directed the officials of the department not to restrict these Job Fairs just to engineering stream only, but other education qualifications related with other employment sectors should also be made part of these fairs. He appealed to the youth to register online on Punjab government portal www.ggnpunjab.com so that they could be provided job as per their professional and academic qualifications.

The Technical Education Minister asked the department officials to personally coordinate with the multinationals, national and state industrial sector to associate them with the job fairs. He further said that Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh himself was directly monitoring this employment campaign and all efforts should be put in to make this campaign a success.

Mr. Channi while releasing the program of the first phase of the Job Fairs, said that the series of this job fairs would start from August 21 from Chandigarh University Gharaun, followed by August 22 at Rayat Bahara University, August 23 at Maharaja Ranjit Singh University, Bathinda and Guru Kashi University, Bathinda, August 25 at Ludhiana, August 26 at Chitkara University, Rajpura and Government Polytechnic Patiala, August 27 at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, August 28 at Amritsar, August 29 at Ferozepur and August 30 at PTU and CTU Jalandhar. He said that he would be personally visiting these places during the job fairs and besides this other cabinet colleagues would also visit the Job fairs which would be organized across the state.

Amongst others prominent present in the meeting included Mr. G. Vajralingam Additional Chief Secretary, Ms. Bhawna Garg Secretary Technical Education, Mr. Praveen Thind, Director Technical Education and Industrial Training, Mr. Mohanbir Singh, Additional Director, Damanpreet Kaur DDA, and Mr. Narinder Pal Singh Lamba and Mr. Satnam Singh Chancellor, Chandigarh University, Gharuan, Dr. BS Dhaliwal Chancellor Guru Kashi University Talwandi Sabo, Mr. Ashok Mittal Chancellor Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Mrs. Madhu Chitkara Chancellor Chitkara University, Rajpura, Mr. MP. Isher Vice Chancellor Maharaja Ranjit Singh University was also present in the meeting.
