Punjab Government made kabaddi reach dazzling heights: Sukhbir Badal

Nagar/Chandigarh, October 22: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister today said that the Punjab Government has made the otherwise ignored game of kabaddi reach dazzling heights during past 7 years which has resulted in the game carving out a niche for itself on world map. He was here at international hockey stadium to boost the morale of the world kabaddi league finalist teams namely Royal Kings USA and California Eagles.

Addressing a huge crowd on the occasion, S. Badal said that teams from 17 countries would participate in the world kabaddi cup to be held in November for which all necessary arrangements have been completed. Congratulating the NRIs on organizing the world kabaddi league in Punjab, the Deputy Chief Minister assured that the state government would extend every support to the world kabaddi league cup. He said that the huge crowd gathered here is a testimony to the growing popularity of kabaddi over cricket which has seen the creation of sporting culture across the state.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that earlier even the world class kabaddi players were left to fend for themselves but the present government not only made the game stand on its feet economically but also provided government jobs to the players. He exhorted the youth to aspire to be players of international repute.

On the occasion, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Sikander Singh Maluka, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Sohan Singh Thandal, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Punjab- Tikshan Sood and seniors officers of police and sports department were present
