One person shot dead outside Mississauga community centre

Mississauga: A man was pronounced dead on scene after a shooting outside a community centre in Mississauga early Saturday morning.
Peel police were first dispatched to the Queen Street South and Church Street area at around 3:50 a.m. after receiving numerous 911 calls about a disturbance that was taking place.
Upon arrival, police say they located a man that had been shot dead outside the Streetsville Kinsmen Seniors Centre. The community centre is typically rented out for various events and a birthday party was taking place at the time, police say.

“I know there are parties that happen over there but I am totally blown away that something like that would happen here,” area resident Garrick Meyers told CP24 on Saturday morning, noting that he heard a series of gunshots at around 4 a.m. “That’s what you hear all the time, but yeah, it’s pretty shocking.”
Two other people suffering from gunshot wounds were found about 2.5 kilometres from the shooting scene, near a gas station at Eglinton Avenue and Creditview Road.
Paramedics previously told CP24 that a man was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition after reportedly being shot while in a vehicle.
One victim has been released and the other remains in serious condition.
Investigators say they do not yet know where the two victims were shot and whether they are connected to the homicide.
Sohi said it is his understanding that there was “quite a few people” in the area at the time of the shooting, as some sort of event was taking place at the venue.
The constable, however, said it is too early to say whether there will be any eye witnesses.
“We did receive a lot of 911 calls but we are still trying to figure out who the witnesses are and who was on scene and who wasn’t,” he said.
No information has been released about possible suspects at this point.
