MCD elections referandum on Kejriwal, he should resign immediately – Sukhbir

Sukhbir-Singh-Badal

Chandigarh, April 26 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal should immediately resign as chief minister of Delhi as the results of the Municipal Council of Delhi (MCD) elections were a direct referandum on the two years of non performance and negative politics which had been rejected by the people.

Simultaneously SAD patron and former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal thanked the electorate for showing faith in the BJP-SAD combine in Delhi and giving a huge mandate in its favour. “The Delhi electorate has shown that people want development and want their government to cooperate with other stake holders to deliver on its promises. The electorate has made it clear that it will not tolerate the agitationist politics of the Delhi CM. As AAP revolves around Kejriwal and Kejriwal alone he should take moral responsibility for this crushing defeat”, he added.

Meanwhile Mr Sukhbir Badal said the defeat was written on the wall and was a culmination of a series of steps which had exposed Kejriwal irreversably. He said the downfall of AAP started from Punjab when Punjabis rejected its divisive ideology which was aimed at fomenting trouble in the border State. He said after this AAP had witnessed one defeat after another with the party being defeated in elections to the Delhi gurdwara management committee, the Rajouri Garden bypoll and now the MCD elections. “I am proud that Punjabis and SAD  has been in the vanguard in taking on AAP and Kejriwal and finishing him as a political force forever”, he added.

The SAD president said it was unfortunate that AAP and Kejriwal had not learnt from their mistakes. “Instead of seeking forgiveness from the Delhi electorate for their egoistic and arrogance filled rule, they are questioning the working of electronic voting machines (EVMs)”. He said this was shameful and akin to insulting the voters of Delhi and disrespecting the mandate of the electorate.

Stating the election result was a clear verdict in favour of the development oriented politics of Prime minister Narendra Modi, the SAD president said the results had also cleared the way for rapid development of Delhi. “Hopefully now all the bottlenecks created by the AAP government will come to an end”, he said adding the BJP-SAD alliance would deliver on its promises  to the Delhi electorate in a time bound manner.
