I need rest too and will ask for it: Kohli

Kolkata,
Virat Kohli made a strange claim today — he said that if you sliced his arm, he’d bleed. This is a strange claim because, due to his fitness, Kohli seems bloody metallic. It’s also strange because Kohli actually had to say that he’s human, after all. Kohli was talking about the necessity of taking a break from the game. This need was brought into sharp focus recently after Hardik Pandya pulled out of this series against Sri Lanka, after he’d been picked up for the series. It’s likely he consulted with Kohli about this, or requested the captain to give him a leave for this series.
From June 4, when India started their Champions Trophy defence in the UK, Pandya had played 22 ODIs, and bowled 147.2 overs in them. That’s the highest workload for any international bowler in this time span. The batsman with the highest number of ODI workload in this duration is Kohli, with 23 innings in 23 matches, making 1,275 runs from 1,300 balls.
Asked if he needed rest, Kohli said: “Definitely I do need rest. When I think of the time my body should be rested I will ask for it, why not. I’m not a robot, you can slice my skin and check if I still bleed.”
