GOVERNMENT IS COMMITTED TOWARDS COUNTRY MEN’S HEALTH – KIRRON KHER

Chandigarh, Jan 18, 2018- Stating that Tuberculosis and Leprosy are curable diseases and those who get affected by these ailments should not feel alienated, Member of Parliament, Chandigarh, Smt Kirron Kher while addressing a gathering at the Special Outreach Program on health related issues said early detection of tuberculosis and leprosy helps in getting rid of them if the patient completes the course of medication. She said people must get their medical checkup done at the earliest if detected with the symptoms of both these diseases.

Smt. Kher added that such awareness campaigns at the grass root level help in providing health related facilities at the door step of the citizens and assured the people that the government is committed about the well being of every citizen of the country. The program was organised by the Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP) of the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in coordination with Chandigarh Health Department at village Raipur Khurd in Chandigarh, today. She said the Centre is concerned about providing health facilities at every village of the country. Especially asking the young mothers present at the program to immunize their new born under Mission Indradhanush, Smt Kher said the Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi has set a target of 2017-18 to complete 90 per cent immunization of children in the country for their health and polio free future. She said children are the future of the country and their medical needs have to be taken care of. At the same time she also cautioned the public to keep their surroundings clean for healthy environment.Besides Director, Health Services, Chandigarh, Dr Gajinder Dewan, National Health Mission Nodal Officer Dr Sangeeta, Councillors Smt Rajbala Malik, Smt Heera Negi and Smt Rekha Sood were also present on the occasion.A free general medical checkup camp was also organised at the venue where free medicines of allopathy, ayurvedic and homeopathy were distributed amongst the people most of whom were old and middle aged. An Ayush Free Medical Van was also especially brought for those interested in getting ayurvedic medicines. A healthy baby show of Zero to One year was also organized on the occasion. Earlier, Director, DFP, Chandigarh Sh Ashish Goyal while welcoming the Chief Guest Smt Kher said that the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is organizing such special outreach programs across the country in the districts and Union Territories identified by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Four Resource Persons from medical department who spoke on Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Immunization and Maternal Health included Dr Meenakshi, Sh Dilip, Smt Savita Saini and Smt Surinder Kaur. Later, Smt Kher presented awards to winners of the baby show. Chirag, Gurleen and Aastha were adjudged First, Second and third, respectively. Winners of drawing competition of Govt Sr Sec. School, Raipur Khurd including Shalu, Manya Rohela and Nisha were awarded first three positions and Tanya was given a consolation prize. Resource persons were also honoured. School students also took out an awareness rally on cleanliness and health in the village, yesterday. Smt Kher was also honoured by the village Sarpanch Sh Lachhman Singh on behalf of the village. Artists of Song & Drama Division presented theme based presentations to aware the public on health related issues.
