Gauba to be Home Secy

New Delhi, June 21 In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the government today shifted Rajiv Gauba, a 1982-batch Jharkhand cadre IAS officer, to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as Officer on Special Duty. Gauba will succeed incumbent Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, whose tenure ends on August 30. Gauba has served in the MHA as Joint and Additional Secretary where he looked after the crucial Naxal division. Durga Shanker Mishra will replace Gauba as Urban Development Secretary. He is currently the Additional Secretary in the same ministry. (Follow The Tribune on Facebook; and Twitter @thetribunechd) In another significant move, the government has shifted National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) chairman Yudhvir Singh Malik, a 1983-batch Haryana cadre lAS officer, to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to fill a vacancy. It is learnt that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is apparently happy with Malik’s performance as NHAI Chairman. Ajay Mittal, a 1982-batch Himachal Pradesh cadre officer, will replace BP Sharma as Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training. Sharma is retiring by the end of June. The government has also appointed 12 new secretaries to various Central departments.
