Faridkot SSP Nanak Singh meets Punjab gangster Tirath’s family

Faridkot, Feb 13

Senior superintendent of police Nanak Singh met the family of gangster Tirath Singh Dhilwan at their village, Dhilwan, in Faridkot district on Monday evening.

An aide of another wanted gangster Jaipal, Tirath is known for the contract killing and said to be a master in highway robberies.

The SSP met the family on the directions of the state’s director general of police and told them to try to contact him and motivate him to surrender and face the law. The visit was a part of the policy of the state government to bring gangsters back into the mainstream after legal procedure.

The family on their part assured “full support” and were “happy with this step of the police department” to reach out to the families of men “who have drifted away into the world of crime”, said police.

Tirath is listed among the top five gangsters in the state and wanted in six heinous crime cases at police stations of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. He was declared a proclaimed offender on February 26, 2013.
