Congress at war with its rebels: Dhindsa

Sukhdev-Singh-Dhindsa

Chandigarh, Jan 21.

The Congress is now out of race in electoral battle in Punjab as the party has to first fight a ditch battle with its own rebels in large scale. Till couple of days ago, the Punjab unit of party was engaged in fierce struggle with its national body over ticket distribution In Delhi and now the scene has shifted to Punjab.

In a statement issued here today, SAD secretary general and former union minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said that as per the last reports reaching here, in 30 odd constituencies, Congress is facing still challenge from its rebels. In about two dozen seats, the Congress is being challenged by those who were hot contenders but were dropped by the party for extraneous consideration.

Shockingly, some of them have been sidelined to accommodate the turn coats whose total stay in the party is less than couple of months and the party’s rank and file fails to identify themselves with these candidates and they have shifted their allegiance to other parties.

Meanwhile, Dhhindsa said that Amarinder had made a desperate attempt to win back the estranged party-men but failed miserably. And now, he has started threatening them too but to no avail.

Moreover, it’s uncertain whether couple of those like Mohinder Rinva- who have finally decided to opt out of contest in deference to party’s appeal or threat- would actually solicit support for the party candidates as that would amount to their own political “harakari” as the victory of the Congress candidates would seal their political future. The party is in disarray and would be further fragmented and totally decimated post polls.

Commenting on AAP, Dhindsa said that the party should first present its report card of its poll eve promises and its performance before soliciting support for his party in Punjab. He said the SA-BP government record is before the Punjabis and they are bound to return it with more majority this time.
