CAPT PROBE INTO DISAPPEARANCE OF LIQUOR BOTTLES FROM DRUG & CHEMICAL TESTING LAB

Chandigarh, July 21: Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has ordered an inquiry into the disappearance of 98 bottles of Johnnie Walker scotch from the Punjab State Drug Food & Chemical Testing Laboratory, Kharar.

Taking cognizance of reports published in a section of the media, the Chief Minister directed the DGP to get the matter thoroughly investigated and submit the report in two weeks.

The said bottles had been deposited with the lab as sample of liquor seized by the state police. The incident came to light when a raid was carried out by the Vigilance Department at the premises of the laboratory on a complaint about the irregularities in the testing of liquor and drug samples received by it.

The Chief Minister said that no laxity would be tolerated in the matter especially in view of his government’s commitment to the elimination of the drugs menace from the state.
