CAPT GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TO RESTORE PRISTINE GLORY OF THE STATE- TRIPT BAJWA

Jalandhar, Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to restore the pristine glory of the state, the Rural development and Panchayat Minister of Punjab Mr. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today said that the state government was making strenuous in this direction.

Addressing the gathering in jam packed Guru Gobind Singh stadium to celebrate the Independence Day after unfurling the national tricolor here today, the Minister said that the Captain Amarinder Singh led Congress government in the state was duty-bound to put the state on high growth trajectory. He said that due to the concerted efforts of the state government, Punjab would soon emerge as a front ranking state in the country. Mr. Bajwa said that the day was not far away when our Punjab would be transformed from a fiscal deficit to fiscal surplus state.

The Minister further announced to provide water supply connection to every house hold till Dec 31,2017. He said that Punjab Government was providing RS. 15000 subsidy to construct toilets to needy persons. Mr. Bajwa said that presently nine districts of the state have been declared open defecation free and in coming months the remaining 13 districts would be declared open defecation free.

The Minister said that the Punjab government under the visionary and dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was fully committed for wiping out the curse of drug from the state. He said that besides constituting a special task force, now the government has also decided to construct sports stadium at block level to channelize the unbounded energy of youth in positive direction. Mr. Bajwa solicited the fulsome support and cooperation of people to actively participate in war against drugs launched by the chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

Announcing to boost the sports and leather industry in Jalandhar , the Minister said that the Punjab government would provide all technical and logistics support to compete with their peers at international level. He also announced that the state government would explore the possibility of setting up a skilled labour training institute in the city. Mr. Bajwa also said that all out efforts would be made to facilitate the Sports industry especially the Cricket bat manufacturers in resolving their issues of bringing wood from Jammu and Kashmir in the city.

Earlier conveying his heartfelt gratitude to Indian armed forces and Para-military forces, who were relentlessly safeguarding the frontiers of our country, the Minister said that this solemn day was an occasion to pay reverence to these valiant soldiers. He also recalled the contribution of our great national leaders, valiant freedom fighters – both known and unknown – who made tremendous sacrifices to liberate India from the yoke colonial imperialism. He said that the Punjab made maximum contribution in the freedom struggle and later in progress and prosperity of the Independent India.

The Minister said that August 15, 1947 brought both happiness and sorrow for us as Punjabis suffered partition but our strength remained intact. “We stood up again and lead the nation in making it self-sufficient on many fronts “he said.

Earlier, the Chief guest took a salute during an impressive march past by the contingents of Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Punjab Police, Home Guards, NCC, Bharat Scouts and Guides led by the parade Commander Assistant Commissioner of Police Ms. Deepika Singh.

Likewise, a colourful variety programme comprising mass PT show, Giddha, Bhangra and other traditional folk dances enthralled the audience with their scintillating performance.

Later on the Minister, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Praveen Kumar Sinha, also felicitated eminent freedom fighters who were present on the occasion. He also honoured 108 prominent officers/employees and persons from various walks of life for their remarkable contribution towards society. Mr. Bajwa also awarded the students of KMV college, Government Senior Secondary School Nehru garden , Red Cross Deaf School , Guru Amardas Public school , HMV college , SD Phullarwan School , DAV Police Public school, SD college and others, who took part in cultural program. Likewise, Mr. Bajwa also felicitated the best contigents of march past.

Prominent amongst present on the occasion included Member of Parliament Chaudhary Santokh Singh, MLAs Mr. Pargat Singh , Mr. Rajinder Beri, Mr. Bawa Henry, Mr Sushil Kumar Rinku and Chaudhary Surinder Singh, former Lieutenant Governor of Puduchery Mr. Iqbal Singh, former Punjab Ministers Mr. Brij Bhupinder Singh and Mr. Jai Kishan Saini, President of District Congress Urban Mr. Daljit Singh Ahluwalia and President of District Congress Committee Captain Harminder Singh.

District and Session Judge Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Garg and Chief Judicial Magistrate Mr. Gurmeet Singh Tiwana also graced the occasion.
